Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Esmaeil Baghaei, stated during a weekly press conference that the 60-day deadline outlined in the Iran-US memorandum of understanding has become completely meaningless. He attributed this to the United States violating the terms of the memorandum, which prevented negotiations aimed at a longer-term agreement from ever starting.
Baghaei asserted that Iran never formulates its policies under pressure, ultimatums, or time constraints. He further explained that the memorandum included a provision for a 60-day negotiation period, which could be extended if the two sides failed to reach an agreement.
Note: In June, the details of a 14-point agreement between the US and Iran became clearer, with US officials outlining the framework of the memorandum of understanding.
