Summer field management is crucial for the success of the entire year's harvest. Presently, the critical period for seedling care and pest control is underway. In the fields, agricultural experts are on the ground diagnosing issues and providing hands-on guidance. At demonstration sites, various trials and demonstrations of green pest control are progressing in an orderly manner, continuously enhancing the effectiveness of plant protection technical services.
To thoroughly advance the reform and construction of the grassroots agricultural technology extension system for 2026 and fully leverage the foundational support role of collaborative projects in "strengthening teams, promoting technology, supporting smallholders, and ensuring safety," the Inner Mongolia Plant Protection and Quarantine Station has launched the 2026 Collaborative Promotion Project for Key Technological Innovation and Application of Green Control of Major Pests and Diseases in Corn and Soybeans. This initiative focuses on addressing the key challenges in controlling major crop pests and diseases, aiming to support the large-scale yield improvement campaign for grain and oil crops.
To tackle the technical bottlenecks in controlling major pests, diseases, and weeds in corn and soybeans, the project involves deep collaboration and joint efforts with research institutions, new agricultural business entities, and social service organizations. This partnership focuses on joint technological research, integrated demonstration, extension services, and talent cultivation.
Four integrated demonstration zones for key technologies enhancing precise pest control in densely planted corn have been established in four leagues and cities: Tongliao, Baotou, Ordos, and Alxa. Additionally, six integrated demonstration and promotion zones for the full-process green control technology of "seed treatment, pre-emergence herbicide application, and foliar spray" for soybean pests and diseases have been set up in three leagues and cities: Hulunbuir, Hinggan League, and Chifeng.
During critical stages such as seed selection, sowing, weed control, and post-seedling management for corn and soybeans, each demonstration zone has strictly followed the project implementation plan and technical specifications. They have completed demonstration activities including the selection of disease-resistant and stress-tolerant varieties, seed coating treatment, sowing, pre-emergence herbicide application, and precise post-emergence herbicide spraying.
Agricultural technicians are providing technical guidance directly in the fields. The demonstration bases serve as technical platforms, with a three-tier linkage system ensuring services reach the grassroots. Inner Mongolia has established a three-level service network involving the autonomous region, leagues/cities, and banners/counties. It organizes experts from research institutes and plant protection technicians to provide frontline technical guidance and regular services. A chain-style service model of "experts + technicians + demonstration bases + new business entities + farmers" is employed to enhance the effectiveness of collaborative promotion.
It is reported that the Inner Mongolia Plant Protection and Quarantine Station will continue to monitor key agricultural periods closely. It will guide all demonstration zones to strengthen pest and disease monitoring and early warning, actively organize on-site observation and training sessions, and fully leverage the role of demonstration in leading and driving broader adoption. This effort aims to provide robust technical support for the large-scale yield improvement of corn and soybeans.
