Wednesday's top US stock by trading volume was Micron Technology, closing up 4.92% with a volume of $336.5 billion. According to the latest Q2 2026 memory and storage market tracking report from Counterpoint Research, Samsung maintained its lead with a 25% shipment share, followed by SK Hynix at 22%. Yangtze Memory Technologies (YMTC) moved into third place for the first time with a 14% share, slightly surpassing Kioxia, while Micron Technology ranked fifth. In Q2 2026, as AI workloads gradually shifted from training to inference, enterprise SSDs accounted for 48% of total bit shipments, which also led to a supply shortage for consumer-grade products. This supply tightness drove industry revenue to a record high, increasing fivefold compared to Q2 2025.

The third-ranked stock was Nvidia, closing up 3.03% with a volume of $242.5 billion. Earlier in the day, Goldman Sachs maintained a 'Buy' rating on Nvidia with a $285 price target. According to reports, Nvidia is fully developing its open-source model Nemotron 4, which is expected to have at least 1 trillion parameters, aiming to reduce dependence on top clients like OpenAI and major cloud providers. Nvidia's goal is to make the largest version of Nemotron 4 perform on par with the world's leading open-source models. Multiple employees have revealed that the model's parameter count is expected to be at least one trillion—approximately double that of its existing largest model, Nemotron 3 Ultra. Analysts point out that the news of Nemotron 4's development also signals that Nvidia is no longer content with being just the world's largest AI chip supplier, but is now directly competing with top players in the open-source model field.

The fourth-ranked stock was SpaceX, closing up 9.65% with a volume of $237.95 billion. The company launched Grok 4.6 during the session. At a SpaceX all-hands meeting, Elon Musk announced that AI revenue would 'definitely' surpass all other SpaceX business revenue for the first time in September, and set a target of reaching 10 GW of AI computing power by the end of next year, corresponding to a potential annual revenue of $300 billion to $500 billion. He declared, 'We must win in AI; the future will be a world of AI and robotics.' This marks his most specific timeline and scale forecast for SpaceX's AI business.

The sixth-ranked stock was SK Hynix-WI. According to media reports, SK Hynix is expected to announce a new shareholder return plan as early as the end of August, which, under specific circumstances, could approach 100 trillion Korean won ($476 billion). Meanwhile, Singapore's sovereign wealth fund Temasek plans to make its first direct investment in the Korean stock market, intending to build a position in SK Hynix, viewing it as a significantly undervalued target in the AI value chain.

The seventh-ranked stock was Intel, closing up 3.32% with a volume of $164.33 billion. UBS lowered its price target for Intel from $121 to $112.

The tenth-ranked stock was Microsoft, closing down 2.26% with a volume of $142.81 billion. S&P Global announced an expansion of its partnership with Microsoft, bringing broad critical intelligence into Microsoft 365 Copilot, while integrating AI-enabled data into Microsoft Copilot workflows.

The eleventh-ranked stock was Apple, closing down 0.87% with a volume of $125.67 billion. Apple has hired a senior executive from American Airlines to serve as head of government affairs.
