Summer Travel Peak Drives Record Passenger Traffic at Qingdao Airport

The summer travel season has brought a surge in passenger traffic to Qingdao Jiaodong International Airport. On July 29, the airport achieved a single-day passenger throughput of 104,000, setting a new historical record since its opening.

During the summer season, the airport has seen daily passenger numbers exceed 100,000 for seven consecutive days and maintain a high level of over 90,000 for 20 straight days. The average daily flight movements and passenger volume stand at 624 flights and 94,000 people, respectively. Popular travel routes for passengers are concentrated in domestic cities such as Chengdu, Chongqing, Kunming, and Xi'an, as well as international destinations like Seoul, with seat occupancy rates exceeding 85%.

To ensure smooth and convenient travel, Qingdao Airport has fully launched three major passenger-friendly services: "Qing Yi Deng," "Qing Yi Su," and "Qing Yi Zhuan". These services streamline the boarding process, allowing passengers without checked luggage to board up to 15 minutes before departure, open a dedicated concourse for 24-hour round-the-clock operations, and create a one-stop overnight service area within the security check zone that integrates check-in, security checks, rest, dining, and convenience facilities. Focusing on the full-chain needs of transit passengers regarding "food, accommodation, travel, shopping, and entertainment," the airport is polishing its "transit through Qingdao, worry-free throughout" service brand. It has also formulated "ten measures" to enhance entry facilitation, striving to build a first-class port environment that ensures "easy entry, smooth travel, and enjoyable tourism."

In line with summer cultural and tourism trends, Qingdao Airport is actively cultivating new momentum for aviation-tourism integration. It has partnered with more than 20 sister airports, including those in Xi'an, Wuhan, and Changsha, to build a cross-regional marketing linkage system. The "Qingdao Airport Hotel" themed activity is being carried out to continuously deepen aviation-tourism integration and drive the conversion of "traffic" into "customer retention."
