German authorities reported on the 25th local time that, during their investigation into the drone explosive incident at Leipzig Airport earlier this month, they discovered a third drone along with military-grade explosives. It has been revealed that this previously undisclosed third drone was found in a field west of Leipzig Airport.

Investigators believe the perpetrators deployed multiple drones in this operation. Late on the 4th of this month, airport staff discovered a drone carrying explosives near a Ukrainian An-124 transport aircraft. The investigation indicates that the attack failed due to a suspected malfunction in the detonator.

Shortly after that drone was found, a DHL cargo aircraft collided with an unidentified flying object while flying near Leipzig Airport and was forced to divert to Hanover. Investigators later found damage marks on the tail of the cargo plane but did not locate any drone wreckage. They suspect the drone may have been sucked into the engine during the collision and torn to pieces.

German Chancellor Merz stated at a press conference on the 25th that Germany is increasingly becoming a target of hybrid attackers. The government is intensifying its investigation and has vowed to punish the perpetrators severely, making them pay the price.
