Firefly Aerospace Inc. (FLY) shares plummeted 6.62% during Tuesday's intraday trading session. The sharp decline came as the company announced a significant expansion of its operational footprint in Texas.

The aerospace company revealed it has relocated its headquarters to an expanded campus in Cedar Park, Texas, doubling its facility size to 144,000 square feet. The expansion, supported by a Texas Space Commission grant, includes a new cleanroom four times larger than the previous one and a new innovation lab called "Gloworks" aimed at accelerating technology development in propulsion and robotics. Firefly stated the move is intended to boost production capacity for its Blue Ghost lunar landers and Elytra orbital vehicles.

While the expansion signals long-term growth ambitions, the market's negative reaction suggests investors may have concerns about the capital expenditures, execution risks, and the timeline for realizing returns from the enlarged production capabilities. The announcement appears to have overshadowed the potential benefits of increased manufacturing scale in the near term.
