Mountain Slope Collapse in Yunnan Leaves Four Missing

A pair of slope collapses in Fengshan Town, Fengqing County, Lincang City, Yunnan Province, on Friday has resulted in four people being reported missing.

The Ministry of Natural Resources activated a Level IV geological disaster emergency response for Yunnan at 2 p.m. that day, dispatching a working group to the site to guide rescue and relief operations.

The ministry has directed the Yunnan Provincial Department of Natural Resources to immediately send an expert team to the affected area, providing technical support for search and rescue efforts and ongoing relief operations. Authorities have also been urged to conduct thorough geological hazard inspections, monitoring, and early warnings to prevent similar incidents.

The China Geological Survey and the Ministry's Geological Disaster Technical Guidance Center have been tasked with strengthening expert coordination, organizational efforts, and joint assessments to ensure comprehensive technical assistance at the scene.
