Thermo Fisher Scientific's stock soared 5.23% in pre-market trading on Thursday, following the release of its second-quarter 2026 financial results.
The company reported adjusted earnings per share of $6.03, beating the analyst consensus estimate of $5.71 by 5.6%. Revenue came in at $11.994 billion, surpassing expectations of $11.701 billion by 2.5%. This represents a 10% year-over-year increase in revenue and a 13% rise in adjusted EPS.
The strong quarterly performance was driven by robust customer activity across the company's end markets, successful new product launches including next-generation mass spectrometry platforms and PCR systems, and strategic collaborations. The earnings beat also helped the stock recover from recent sector-wide weakness, as the life sciences tools sector had faced selling pressure earlier in the week.
