The Chongqing Municipal People's Government has officially released the "15th Five-Year Plan for Building a Beautiful Chongqing (2026-2030)," outlining a comprehensive strategy for low-carbon transformation in the transportation sector.

As part of this initiative, the city will actively promote the adoption of new energy vehicles, with a specific focus on accelerating the electrification of vehicles used in the public domain. The plan emphasizes the widespread deployment of battery electric and hydrogen fuel cell commercial vehicles to replace traditional fossil fuel models.

Furthermore, Chongqing will pioneer the development of zero-carbon transport corridors, establishing dedicated "zero-carbon zones" to streamline low-emission logistics and commuting routes. The plan also calls for the scrapping and replacement of outdated operating vessels, encouraging the adoption of new energy and clean power propulsion systems for waterway transport.

In addition, existing transportation infrastructure will undergo energy-saving and carbon-reduction retrofits. The city aims to construct a new generation of low-carbon railway stations, ports, and highway service areas, integrating sustainability into the core of its urban mobility framework.
