The 2026 Inner Mongolia Cool-Weather Vegetable and Fresh Corn Supply Chain Connection and High-Quality Development Conference took place in Bayannur from August 14 to 15, as reported by Inner Mongolia News Network.
Why Only 10 ASX 200 Shares?
The event drew over 150 participants, including representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the National Agricultural Technology Extension Service Center, industry associations, and government and business leaders from within and outside the region. They gathered under the theme "Strengthen Foundation, Improve Quality, Link Production and Sales" to provide recommendations for upgrading, expanding, and increasing the efficiency of the region's cool-weather fruit and vegetable sector.
Through a variety of formats, including site visits, policy announcements, business negotiations, and centralized contract signings, the conference aimed to bridge information gaps and logistical bottlenecks between production areas and markets. This created an efficient platform for scaling up the development and branding of Inner Mongolia's cool-weather vegetables and fresh corn.
Six companies issued collective procurement demands for agricultural products. Fourteen out-of-region firms signed 13 production and sales cooperation and project implementation agreements with relevant departments, leading enterprises, and growers across the region's leagues and cities. These partnerships span seven leagues and cities, covering areas such as facility vegetable cultivation, construction of vegetable bases for Hong Kong supply, vegetable deep processing, smart agriculture development, and contract farming. The agreements secured a total of 28,100 mu of specialty planting bases and finalized orders for 110,000 tons of agricultural products across 11 major categories, achieving precise production-to-sales matching and efficient coordination.
"Inner Mongolia's climate has large temperature differences and long sunshine hours, resulting in high-quality agricultural products. Today, we signed a 3,000 mu lettuce supply agreement with Ulanqab City. We hope to see more high-quality Inner Mongolia agricultural products reach Beijing, enriching the dining tables of the capital's residents," said Zhao Zhongyuan, Deputy General Manager of the Beijing Xinfadi Agricultural Products Wholesale Market.
Key Initiatives
This year, the region has fully implemented the "Cool-Weather Vegetable Foundation Strengthening Program," introducing special policies to support base construction, seedling breeding, deep processing, and cold chain logistics. These are complemented by financial support including loan interest subsidies and agricultural insurance, providing comprehensive backing for industrial development. Currently, the region boasts 4.13 million mu of cool-weather vegetable planting area, with an annual output of nearly 16 million tons. It has established 248 cold storage facilities, ensuring full coverage of pre-cooling at production sites. The region also hosts four national backbone cold chain logistics bases and has set up forward warehouses in Beijing and Zhengzhou, ensuring fresh products reach the entire country. Fresh corn planting area exceeds 600,000 mu, producing approximately 2 billion ears annually. The region has built the country's largest sweet corn kernel processing base, housing 82 processing enterprises, with products sold nationwide and exported to over 20 countries and regions.
"We are currently accelerating the construction of standardized planting bases for cool-weather vegetables and fresh corn, actively laying out high-value-added deep processing projects such as corn juice, meal replacement foods, and functional extracts. We are also expediting the upgrade of cold chain storage capacity and vigorously developing the 'Inner Mongolia Base + Terminal Market' direct supply model, aiming to build a pure vegetable garden in northern China," stated Li Zhiping, Director of the Cash Crops Division at the Inner Mongolia Agricultural and Animal Husbandry Technology Extension Center.
