Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region is leveraging its geographical advantages and overseas Chinese resources to promote the international expansion of local enterprises and products into ASEAN markets, achieving notable progress. The initiative, part of the national "Overseas Chinese Assisting Thousands of Enterprises and Products Going Global" campaign, was highlighted at recent events in Yulin City.
On May 25, the Guangxi Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese held an experience exchange conference on the campaign, coinciding with the second member congress of the Yulin Overseas Chinese Business Association. During the event, the Yulin Overseas Investment Company was officially inaugurated. This company aims to become a regional benchmark for cross-border investment by utilizing Guangxi's supply chain resources, such as traditional Chinese medicinal materials and agricultural machinery, and leveraging its established overseas network covering countries including Vietnam, Malaysia, and Morocco.
Fan Xiaohua, Member of the Standing Committee of the Yulin Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, Head of the United Front Work Department, and Vice Mayor, stated that Yulin has successfully attracted overseas Chinese investment projects in recent years through bridge-building efforts, creating an environment conducive to the return, retention, and growth of such investments. She expressed hope that the local overseas Chinese business association would utilize the new platform of Yulin Overseas Investment Company to help small and medium-sized enterprises collectively expand into ASEAN markets.
Qin Weipeng, Vice Chairman of the Guangxi Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, noted that Guangxi is home to over four million overseas Chinese worldwide, with a significant concentration in ASEAN countries. To facilitate the global expansion of Guangxi's enterprises and products, the region has been utilizing the China-ASEAN Expo platform to host regular economic and trade exchange activities, deepening practical cooperation with the business communities of ASEAN nations and expanding its network of economic and trade partnerships.
Additionally, the Guangxi Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese is supporting the development of the China-ASEAN Commodity Hub, which employs an "online + offline" operational model to provide a key platform for the regular exhibition and sales of Guangxi products. To enhance the international competitiveness of these products, Guangxi is intensifying its focus on the ASEAN market by supporting overseas Chinese enterprises in establishing nearly 20 public overseas warehouses in countries such as Malaysia, Vietnam, and Thailand. These facilities form a comprehensive service system covering storage, distribution, delivery, and financial services.
Yang Zhiguang, Vice Chairman of the Guangxi Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese and Chairman of the Yulin Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, reported that, driven by overseas Chinese businesses, the first batch of 100 micro-tillers produced in Yulin has been successfully exported to the Vietnamese market this year. Furthermore, Guangxi Yuchai Machinery Group Co., Ltd. has established and put into operation an engine factory in Vietnam. Other specialty products from the region, such as Bobai woven products, Beiliu ceramics, and Fumian smart home appliances, are also gaining popularity in ASEAN markets.
"Guangxi is encouraging more overseas Chinese businesspeople to serve as 'civil ambassadors' and 'bridges' for the global expansion of local products," Qin Weipeng stated. He added that Guangxi will further deepen its engagement in the ASEAN market by increasing the density of overseas warehouse networks, organizing more economic and trade matchmaking and brand promotion events, and developing new cross-border e-commerce formats to introduce more high-quality Chinese products into ASEAN markets.
