During the National Day holiday, while some people are heading off to reunions and distant destinations, others remain hard at work on the road. To ensure greater safety and convenience for drivers and passengers, especially truck drivers and new energy heavy truck owners, the Yanghua Expressway has focused on National Day travel support by continuously upgrading the "Driver's Home" at the Shigu Service Area, offering round-the-clock service to create a "home on the highway" for drivers on the move.
Fully open free of charge 24 hours a day, with shower, laundry, rest, food and charging all in one place. During the National Day period, the Shigu Service Area fully optimized the layout of the "Driver's Home," building an integrated service system covering "shower, laundry, rest, food and charging," and keeping it open free of charge 24 hours a day. "It is equipped with showers, self-service laundry, free hot water, quiet rest areas, internet and charging facilities, and also provides volunteer assistance for elderly drivers and those who have difficulty operating smart devices," said Xiao Liang, a road administration officer patrolling the service area. In addition, the service area provides truck water refilling, simple repairs, tire inspections and heavy truck ultra-fast charging services, fully covering the refueling and charging needs of both fuel and new energy trucks, and effectively solving the nighttime rest problems of long-haul truck drivers. To better serve new energy vehicle travel, the Shigu Service Area also conducted a tidal charging pile drill on September 24 together with traffic police, property management and other parties, making full preparations for tidal charging during the National Day period.
AI smart security makes nighttime parking safer. In response to safety risks such as nighttime fuel theft from trucks and hazardous chemical leaks, the Shigu Service Area built an integrated AI smart security control system. Through six major functions—partitioned management of passenger and cargo vehicles, intelligent identification of blacklisted vehicles, hazardous chemical gas monitoring, tiered warnings for fuel theft behavior, full-area video surveillance and intelligent equipment inspections—combined with a five-minute emergency response mechanism, it achieves proactive risk warnings and rapid handling of hidden dangers. Once the system detects abnormal situations such as a passenger car approaching a truck, a passenger car parked in a truck space or a leak from a hazardous chemicals transport vehicle, it immediately issues an alert. While a pop-up report is sent to the back office, the site broadcast also warns the passenger car to leave and announces the hazardous chemicals leak situation, resulting in zero fuel theft incidents in the area.
Enhanced services for public benefit make National Day travel more worry-free. In terms of public-benefit services, the Shigu Service Area has established a "Red Cross Emergency Rescue Demonstration Site" and regularly conducts first aid training in CPR, bleeding control and bandaging, and heatstroke first aid. Before the holiday, volunteer service stations at service areas along the route were equipped with sewing kits, raincoats, waterproof shoe covers, shoe and sock dryers, thermometers, blood pressure monitors, automated external defibrillators (AED) and other living service facilities. Volunteers trained by the Red Cross can measure blood pressure on site for drivers and passengers in need. At the same time, the Shigu Service Area partnered with gas stations and restaurants to launch exclusive fuel-and-meal packages for trucks, gift redemption through refueling points and discounts on repeat dining purchases. A series of warm, thoughtful and reassuring service measures has won unanimous praise and heartfelt approval from truck drivers and passengers. A truck driver with a Gan C license plate who has been running long-haul routes for years said after resting there: "This service area has provided the best service I have experienced since I started driving trucks. It deserves praise and promotion." It is reported that the Shigu Service Area has been successfully rated as a national first-class service area, and its "Driver's Home" was also selected as part of the fifth batch of standardized and regulated expressway service area "Driver's Homes" by the Ministry of Transport. "This year, Yanghua Expressway was honored as a 2026 National Beautiful Highway, and service areas along the route were selected as 2026 national transportation and tourism integration innovation project cases. We will take this as a new starting point and continue to deepen the service connotation of the 'Driver's Home,' so that every driver and passenger traveling on the road can feel the warmth of home," said a relevant person in charge of Yanghua Expressway.
