This afternoon (March 12), the CA723 flight, operated by China's domestically produced C919 large passenger aircraft, departed from Beijing heading to Ulaanbaatar. The local airport will welcome the C919 with the highest civil aviation courtesy, a "water salute" ceremony. This move marks the official launch of international scheduled commercial route operations for the domestic jet.
It is understood that the C919 aircraft will regularly operate the Beijing-Ulaanbaatar route going forward. As of now, the C919 aircraft, operated by Air China, China Eastern Airlines, and China Southern Airlines, have opened a total of 58 routes, served 26 cities, and carried over 7.5 million passengers.
Since commencing commercial operations on May 28, 2023, the C919 aircraft has made multiple appearances at overseas airshows, including participation in two editions of the Singapore Airshow and one edition of the Dubai Airshow.
