China Coal Energy Company Limited (01898) announced its financial results for the first quarter of 2026. The company's operating revenue was approximately 34.189 billion yuan, a decrease of 10.9% compared to the same period last year. Net profit attributable to shareholders of the listed company was about 3.844 billion yuan, reflecting a 3.2% decline year-on-year. Basic earnings per share for the quarter were 0.29 yuan.

During the first quarter, the company's coal business generated operating revenue of 26.390 billion yuan, which represents a 15.6% decrease from the previous year. Within this segment, sales revenue from self-produced commercial coal amounted to 14.727 billion yuan, down 8.4% year-on-year. This decrease was primarily due to a reduction in sales volume by 2.98 million tonnes, which led to a revenue decline of 1.462 billion yuan, despite an average sales price increase of 4 yuan per tonne that contributed an additional 119 million yuan in revenue.

Revenue from buyout traded coal sales was 11.645 billion yuan, falling 23.3% compared to the same period last year. This was mainly a result of a 7.77 million tonne decrease in sales volume, which reduced revenue by 3.778 billion yuan, even though a higher average sales price of 11 yuan per tonne added 250 million yuan to revenue.
