UWM Holdings Corporation's stock surged 5.52% during pre-market trading on Wednesday, following the release of its first-quarter 2026 financial results.
The wholesale mortgage lender reported quarterly earnings of $0.09 per share, significantly beating the analyst consensus estimate of $0.06. Revenue for the quarter was $901.4 million, a 46.9% increase year-over-year and well above the estimated $710.1 million. The company swung to a net income of $170.4 million from a net loss of $247 million in the same period last year.
Key drivers for the strong performance included a 39% year-over-year increase in total loan origination volume to $44.9 billion, with refinance production more than doubling. CEO Mat Ishbia described the quarter as "exceptional," highlighting the use of AI-powered tools and operational efficiency. The company also reported progress on bringing loan servicing in-house, with substantially all loans expected to be serviced internally by October 2026.
