Simcere Pharma's Half-Year Profit Jumps 48.7% on Adjusted Basis

Simcere Pharma (02096) has announced its interim results for 2026, reporting total revenue of RMB 4.58 billion, up 27.8% year-on-year. Revenue from innovative drugs reached RMB 3.887 billion, accounting for 84.9% of total revenue, representing a 34.1% increase compared to the same period last year.

The company recorded a profit attributable to equity shareholders of RMB 829 million, up 37.9% year-on-year, while adjusted profit attributable to equity shareholders rose 48.7% to RMB 964 million.

The growth in profit was primarily driven by higher revenue from innovative drugs and licensing income, according to the company's announcement. The group focuses on neuroscience, oncology, autoimmune diseases, and anti-infective therapies, while also proactively positioning itself in disease areas with significant future clinical needs, fulfilling its corporate mission of "born for patients."

Within its core focus areas, the group has received marketing approval for ten innovative drugs. As of June 30, 2026, the company's products have been included in guidelines and pathways issued by more than 100 government agencies or authoritative professional societies, with over 45 products included in the National Reimbursement Drug List (NRDL).

The group has entered into overseas licensing agreements for five self-developed innovative drugs with leading international pharmaceutical companies, including AbbVie, Boehringer Ingelheim, and Ipsen, with total transaction value exceeding USD 4.6 billion. These agreements underscore global partners' recognition of the group's in-house R&D capabilities, the quality of its innovative pipeline, and the global market potential of its products, laying the groundwork for international development and value realization of its innovations while serving as a key driver for sustained growth.

The group continues to strengthen its innovative drug R&D capabilities, operating R&D innovation centers in Shanghai, Nanjing, Beijing, Boston, and Hong Kong, along with a National Key Laboratory for Neuroscience and Oncology Drug Development. Its R&D system covers the full spectrum from drug discovery, preclinical development, clinical trials, to regulatory filing, and is supported by leading platforms including protein engineering, multispecific antibodies/TCE, ADC, messenger RNA (mRNA), AI-assisted molecular generation, and protein degradation technologies.

As of June 30, 2026, the group employed approximately 1,000 R&D personnel, including around 214 with doctoral degrees and 520 with master's degrees.
