In a company blog post, Microsoft (ASX: MSFT) stated that of the 6,000 H-1B visa applications it filed last year, 80% were not used to recruit new employees.
Microsoft said the remaining applications intended for new hires involved individuals who already held legal U.S. residency before deciding to join the company, and this group accounted for only 1% of the company's total U.S. workforce.
Microsoft stated that it looks forward to providing more information to the U.S. government.
