The U.S. dollar index fell on April 7. The index, which measures the dollar against a basket of six major currencies, dropped 0.12% to close at 99.857 by the end of the trading session.
At the close of New York foreign exchange trading, one euro was worth 1.1574 U.S. dollars, up from 1.1549 dollars in the previous session. One British pound traded at 1.3251 dollars, compared to 1.3241 dollars previously.
One U.S. dollar bought 159.73 Japanese yen, rising from 159.63 yen the day before. Against the Swiss franc, the dollar increased to 0.7988 francs from 0.7977. In contrast, the dollar weakened against the Canadian dollar, falling to 1.3899 Canadian dollars from 1.3914. The U.S. dollar also strengthened against the Swedish krona, climbing to 9.5065 kronor from 9.4355.
