StarHub announced the immediate appointment of Matthew Williams as chief executive officer-designate; he will take over as CEO on Jan, 1 2027 when current chief executive Nikhil Eapen steps down at the end of 2026.
The company said Eapen led StarHub through a major transformation, moving to a cloud-based, data-driven and digital operating model, strengthening its consumer market position, scaling its regional enterprise business and executing targeted acquisitions.
Williams joined StarHub in May, 2025 as Chief, Consumer Business Group, and was promoted to deputy CEO on May, 1 2026. He has more than 30 years of telecommunications experience across Australia, New Zealand and Europe, and currently oversees consumer, small and medium enterprise, network, technology and customer operations.
Chairman Olivier Lim said the board had evaluated internal and external candidates and concluded that Williams’s leadership, stakeholder management and industry expertise made him the ideal successor. Eapen and Williams will work together over the next six months to ensure a smooth transition.
