China's Shipbuilding Industry Reports Strong Growth Across Key Metrics in First Half of 2026, Maintains Global Market Dominance

Data from the China Association of the National Shipbuilding Industry reveals robust performance for the first six months of 2026.

The nation's shipbuilding output reached 36.5 million deadweight tons, marking a year-on-year increase of 51.2% and accounting for 62.2% of the global total.

New orders received soared to 121.06 million deadweight tons, surging 173.1% compared to the same period last year and representing 82.3% of the world's total.

As of the end of June, the order backlog stood at 363.25 million deadweight tons, up 54.9% year-on-year and constituting 71.2% of the global share.

These figures demonstrate comprehensive growth across the three primary shipbuilding indicators, with China's international market share remaining at a leading global position.
