A drone strike has hit a fuel storage tank at the Zawiya refinery in Libya, according to Masoud Suleman, Chairman of Libya's National Oil Corporation. He stated that a drone struck a tank containing fuel, sparking a fire that caused the tank to collapse due to the intense heat.
Crews are currently working to cool down the surrounding tanks to prevent additional fires. A state of emergency has been declared in the affected area. This incident follows a similar attack on Saturday, when another tank was hit by a drone but did not catch fire.
Libya's National Oil Corporation revealed in a statement that the collapsed tank held nearly 4.5 million liters of vehicle fuel. The event poses a significant threat to other oil facilities in the region.
