Waterdrop Inc. (WDH.US) has recently been granted three additional national invention patents in artificial intelligence, covering applications in intelligent voice interaction optimization, automatic document image classification, and smart service timing judgment. These newly obtained patents highlight Waterdrop's growing self-developed capabilities in core technology areas such as intelligent voice interaction, multimodal document recognition, and social intent understanding, further solidifying its technological foundation for upgrading insurance technology and health service scenarios.

Each of the three patents delivers distinct breakthroughs across key insurance service processes. The first patent, titled "Method, Apparatus, Electronic Device, and Storage Medium for Robot Replies in Outbound Calls," addresses common pain points where robotic responses fail to match actual user queries or lack precision. The proposed solution leverages a large language model to convert user voice requests into text, combine them with historical call records from the same conversation, and generate more accurate replies. For example, when a user asks a question, the robot processes not only the immediate utterance but also reviews prior dialogue context to deliver a context-aware response.

The second patent, "Method, Apparatus, Device, and Storage Medium for Document Image Classification," integrates layout analysis with multimodal feature fusion. It divides the content of document images into segments and maps each segment to corresponding layout category information before classifying the image. Compared with traditional document classification techniques, this method significantly boosts the accuracy of automatic classification for complex vouchers, medical bills, and claims materials. In scenarios requiring bulk document processing, such as insurance claims and medical record review, this technology is expected to dramatically reduce manual sorting time and improve audit efficiency.

The third patent, "Method, Apparatus, Storage Medium, and Device for Command Processing Based on Social Intent Recognition," identifies social intent from conversation content and then extracts multimodal information, including voice acoustic features and textual semantic features, to execute subsequent actions accordingly. Through a multimodal feature fusion mechanism paired with counter management, the technology notably improves intent recognition accuracy while minimizing unnecessary model invocations, thereby lowering operational costs. This innovation is poised for wide application in customer operations, enabling staff to initiate requests at the optimal moment and enhance customer conversion rates.

Waterdrop continues to intensify its research and development investment, advancing its "All in AI" strategy with nearly RMB 300 million allocated annually to technology development. To date, the company has filed close to 200 AI-related patent applications, including 97 tied to large language models, while persistently exploring applications of big data and AI across the industry value chain. Through proprietary innovations such as the "Waterdrop Shou Large Model," and systematic deployments of the first domestic AI underwriting expert "KEYI.AI," AI-powered customer service "Bao Xiaohui," and AI intelligent quality inspection, Waterdrop has achieved notable improvements in service efficiency and user experience.

Recently, Waterdrop's subsidiary, Beijing Waterdrop Shou Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd., was recognized among the "Third China AI Technology Enterprises TOP 50 - Emerging AI Companies" for its deep AI implementation capabilities in the insurance and medical health verticals. Looking ahead, Waterdrop plans to further deepen AI technology applications in insurance and service scenarios, extending core technologies like intelligent voice interaction, multimodal recognition, and intent understanding into insurance technology and health management fields. The company also aims to collaborate with industry partners to drive the insurance sector toward greater efficiency and intelligence.
