The Chongqing Municipal Bureau of Planning and Natural Resources announced on the 4th that a dangerous rock collapse occurred in Tuokou Community, Chenjiaba Subdistrict, Wanzhou District, on the same day. The incident was mitigated because the two threatened villagers had been relocated in advance, effectively preventing casualties.

At around 12:00 PM on August 2nd, the Chenjiaba Subdistrict office, in collaboration with the resident geological team from the Southern Jiangsu Geological Brigade of the Chongqing Bureau of Geology and Mineral Exploration and Development, conducted a meeting based on weather forecasts predicting rainfall. They identified the area for proactive evacuation and organized the relocation of one household (two individuals) from Tuokou Community that afternoon.

At 4:35 AM on August 4th, a rockfall, approximately 2 cubic meters in volume, occurred on the slope behind the evacuated villager's home. This directly pierced the rear wall of a bedroom in the agricultural house. Because the villagers (one household, two people) had been evacuated beforehand, the rockfall caused no injuries or fatalities.

As of the time of reporting, the Wanzhou District Bureau of Planning and Natural Resources, along with the stationed geological team, has visited the site to conduct an expanded investigation of the area. They are guiding the Chenjiaba Subdistrict to delineate the danger zone, set up warning lines and signs, properly resettle the evacuated villagers, and assign dedicated personnel to enhance patrol monitoring, preventing unauthorized access to the hazardous area.

In the next steps, the Chongqing Municipal Bureau of Planning and Natural Resources will direct the Wanzhou District Bureau and the resident geological team to further improve risk assessment. They will assist local authorities in strengthening the inspection and patrol of geological hazards within their jurisdiction, reinforcing proactive evacuation measures and shutdown mechanisms to ensure utmost safety.
