China Reinsurance (Group) Corporation (China Re, 01508) today released its 2025 Sustainability Report, detailing financial performance, climate-related actions and green-finance expansion.
• Solid Financial Performance – Insurance revenue rose to RMB 103.09 billion, up 1.7% year-on-year. – Net profit attributable to shareholders reached RMB 9.77 billion. – Total assets stood at RMB 527.76 billion; total equity amounted to RMB 119.32 billion. – The Board proposes a final dividend of RMB 2.94 billion, equal to 30.19% of 2025 attributable profit.
• Green & Climate Finance – Green-insurance risk protection surged 31.7% to RMB 4.51 trillion. – Clean-energy projects (wind, solar, hydro, storage) received RMB 607.00 billion in risk coverage. – Low-carbon transportation solutions included new-energy-vehicle and low-altitude-economy insurance, with premium for the latter up 40% to ~RMB 70 million.
• Inclusive & Rural Support – Agricultural reinsurance cover exceeded RMB 330 billion; China Re P&C supported high-standard farmland, cash crops and fisheries. – Government and inclusive health-insurance projects served 145.81 million people, offering RMB 47.80 trillion in protection. – Rural revitalisation efforts delivered RMB 8 million in direct assistance funds and RMB 25 million in industry loans to Qinghai’s Xunhua County.
• Technology & Digitalisation – Completion of “Digital China Re 2.0” and release of AI-enabled risk-management platforms including climate-risk tool “Climate Vision”, agricultural platform “Zai Yun” and low-altitude-economy platform “Zai Qing”. – Launch of an equity-investment research platform and rating-management upgrades at China Re AMC.
• Climate Governance & Emissions – Published China Re Action Plan for Addressing Climate Change (2025-2035); established a Climate Risk Research Center. – Scope 1 & 2 greenhouse-gas emissions totalled 28,921 tCO2e, with carbon-emission intensity at 2.32 kgCO2e per RMB10,000 revenue. Comprehensive energy-consumption intensity fell to 0.74 kgce per RMB10,000 revenue. – Conducted physical-risk stress tests across multiple RCP climate scenarios; developed first domestic climate-risk insight platform.
• Recognition & Ratings – S&P Global affirmed China Re’s “A” financial-strength rating with Stable outlook; AM Best affirmed “A (Excellent)”. – Selected as China’s first “Internationally Active Insurance Group” (IAIG). – Sustainability reporting earned Platinum in LACP Vision Awards and multiple ARC Awards.
China Re states it will align its forthcoming 15th Five-Year Plan with the goal of becoming a world-class comprehensive reinsurance group by 2035 while deepening green, inclusive and digital-finance initiatives.
