NetEase Inc. (NTES) experienced a significant surge of 5.38% during Thursday's trading session, marking a substantial upward movement for the Chinese internet technology company.

The price increase follows the company's announcement that it will transition to a dual primary listing status on the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong, effective from June 30. This strategic move is expected to enhance NetEase's profile and accessibility for international investors while maintaining its existing listing on the main board of the Hong Kong exchange.

Analysts suggest the dual-primary listing structure provides greater flexibility and could potentially broaden the shareholder base for NetEase, which has been subject to the Hong Kong Exchange's migration notice after more than 55% of its global trading value in fiscal 2025 took place in Hong Kong. The transition will also remove the "S" marker from the stock's short name on the effective date.
