During the "15th Five-Year Plan" period, the Beijing Municipal Administrative Center will push forward the construction of subsequent phases of the Universal Studios theme park, complete the Vertex Park, Haichang Ocean Park, and the City Sports Center, and attract more high-quality projects to the Beijing Municipal Administrative Center's cultural tourism zone.

Zheng Hao, head of Tongzhou District, Beijing, made the remarks at a press conference on the theme of "Beijing Municipal Administrative Center: Building a New Growth Pole for Capital Development" under the "Capital's Start and 15th Five-Year Plan" series.

Zheng Hao said that since construction began in 2016, fixed asset investment in the center has exceeded one trillion yuan, maintaining over 100 billion yuan annually for six consecutive years. A series of major projects have been completed and put into use, comprehensively expanding the city framework, continuously optimizing the industrial structure, and delivering high-quality and balanced public services.

Zheng Hao noted that the center's vitality is increasingly evident, with the 62-kilometer Beijing-Hebei section of the Grand Canal fully navigable, and Universal Studios theme park receiving over 10 million visitors annually. From January to September this year, Tongzhou District welcomed approximately 30.8 million tourists, a year-on-year increase of 49%, surpassing last year's total and accelerating the center's march toward becoming a world-class tourism destination.

Zheng Hao said that during the "15th Five-Year Plan" period, the center will build a new highland for cultural development, enhance the "art plus" quality of the Grand Canal, complete and open the Beijing Art Museum, create a multifunctional art park and art lifestyle district, and strengthen links between Zhangjiawan Ancient Town and Universal Studios theme park to achieve complementary cultural scene features.

Jiang Haoye, deputy head of Tongzhou District, said at the press conference that the center will build a high-standard northern cultural tourism industry belt, accelerate the landing of projects such as Vertex Park and Haichang Ocean Park, enrich diverse business formats including themed entertainment, parent-child science education, and trendy leisure, and meet consumption needs across all age groups. The district will continue to optimize the business environment, release policy benefits, attract high-quality market entities to settle and grow, and cultivate high-level cultural tourism industry clusters.
