SMOORE INTL (06969) saw its shares jump more than 9% in morning trading, with the stock up 8.8% to HK$9.33, on trading volume of HK$94.3 million.

This rally comes as the Hang Seng Index Company is currently seeking market feedback on proposed revisions to the methodology for the Hang Seng Tech Index. The key changes being considered include expanding the index's technology theme coverage, adjusting the stock selection mechanism, and increasing the number of constituent stocks.

Based on the latest market data, Industrial Securities predicts that if the proposed changes take effect, SMOORE INTL could be a candidate for inclusion in the index due to its market capitalization.

Separately, Cinda Securities noted that the draft of the national standard for "Heated Cigarettes" was released for public comment in July, signaling that China's heated tobacco product (HNB) market is moving closer to regulatory approval. Shenwan Hongyuan added that the mid-year reports from global tobacco giants like British American Tobacco, Philip Morris International, and Japan Tobacco confirm the continued strong momentum in the overseas new tobacco product sector, while the release of the mandatory national standard for heated cigarettes in China suggests the country's process for establishing a regulated access system for HNB products is steadily advancing.
