Abbott Laboratories' stock surged 5.07% in pre-market trading following the release of its second-quarter financial results.
The healthcare company reported adjusted earnings per share of $1.31 for the quarter, beating the consensus estimate of $1.28. Revenue came in at $12.59 billion, also exceeding expectations of $12.52 billion. Additionally, Abbott raised its full-year 2026 adjusted EPS guidance to a range of $5.45 to $5.60, up from its previous forecast of $5.38 to $5.58 and above analyst estimates.
The strong performance was driven by robust growth in the company's diagnostics and medical devices segments. The diagnostics business saw significant expansion, particularly in cancer diagnostics following the acquisition of Exact Sciences, while heart devices and diabetes care products also showed strong demand that is expected to continue through the second half of the year.
