Prudential plc cancels shares and reports fresh GBP-denominated buyback

Prudential plc said on May, 29 2026 that it repurchased 965,643 ordinary shares on May, 28 2026 via the London Stock Exchange for cancellation. The shares were bought at prices between roughly 18.9 million Singapore dollars and 19.4 million Singapore dollars per share, translating to an average cost of about 19.1 Singapore dollars per share. The aggregate consideration was approximately 18.4 million Singapore dollars.

In a separate move, Prudential cancelled 395,464 shares repurchased on May, 26 2026, trimming its issued share capital by 0.016 percent to 2,521,145,867 ordinary shares as of May, 28 2026.

The company also highlighted that a further 1,622,513 shares—bought on May, 27 and May, 28 for cancellation—were still awaiting cancellation at the period’s close.

Under the buyback mandate approved on May, 14 2025, Prudential is authorised to repurchase up to 262,668,701 shares. After the latest transactions, a total of 92,649,875 shares, or about 3.56 percent of the shares outstanding on the mandate date, have been acquired. The company remains subject to a moratorium on issuing new shares or disposing of treasury shares until Jun, 27 2026.
