In a move to deepen and solidify rural revitalization efforts, the first phase of a high-caliber farmer training program focused on soybean-corn strip intercropping technology in Jian'an District, Xuchang City, Henan Province, has recently commenced.
The program, organized by the Jian'an District Agriculture and Rural Affairs Bureau and executed by Xuchang Jian'an Chengrun Vocational Skills Training School Co., Ltd., spans eight days.
The curriculum is divided into four days of classroom instruction and four days of practical fieldwork.
A cohort of 38 participants, primarily consisting of major local growers, village committee officials, and representatives from new agricultural business entities, is taking part.
During the classroom sessions, instructors covered topics such as integrated water and fertilizer application technology for high-yield corn, the advantages and future prospects of soybean-corn strip intercropping, and green pest control techniques for both soybeans and corn.
The practical component involved field visits to several agricultural enterprises, including Henan Herun Water-Saving Irrigation Equipment Co., Ltd., Zhengzhou Airport Economic Zone Fengqingyuan Planting Farm, Henan Yangjiajiang Machinery Technology Co., Ltd., and Henan Jinxiangrui Agricultural Development Co., Ltd.
At these sites, participants gained hands-on experience with drip irrigation tape installation, targeted weeding techniques for strip planting, the triangular seedling-thinning method for high-yield corn, and drone pesticide application.
Attendees expressed significant satisfaction with the training, noting they acquired substantial practical agricultural knowledge.
They affirmed their commitment to applying the theoretical knowledge to their farming practices, aiming for scientific cultivation, striving to become high-quality farmers, and contributing to the revitalization of modern agriculture.
