The north section of the Airport Second Corridor officially opened to traffic at 11:00 AM on August 20, marking the launch of a new cross-regional route connecting the Yuhua and Hexi areas. Commuters planning to use this new corridor are advised to review the following traffic guide before setting out.

The Airport Second Corridor serves as a key radial project within Nanjing's "grid-ring, radial-connect, cluster-link" high-speed road network system. The section north of the Ring Expressway begins at the reserved ramp connection of Xiaoxing Interchange on Ruanda Avenue, extends southward through a tunnel beneath military land, and connects at its southern end with the elevated section of Provincial Highway 126 and Fengxin Road, spanning approximately 1.2 kilometers. The mainline is designed for a speed limit of 60 km/h, with auxiliary roads at 40 km/h.

At its northern terminus, the corridor links via the Xiaoxing Elevated Road to the city's inner ring expressway system, while the southern end connects to the completed Yuhang Avenue, providing direct access to Dazhou Road and the Ring Expressway. This corridor serves as a vital fast-travel passage for the southern urban area.

For northbound-to-southbound traffic (from the city center/Hexi toward the Software Valley), vehicles can enter the Airport Second Corridor mainline via the Xiaoxing Elevated Road, proceed directly into the Yuhang Avenue North Tunnel, and upon exiting, connect to the Fengxin Road Elevated Road, Provincial Highway 126, and Yuhang Avenue to reach Dazhou Road and the Ring Expressway — all without encountering a single traffic light and with no need to detour through Tiexinqiao surface roads or Kazimen Interchange.

For southbound-to-northbound traffic (from the Software Valley toward the city center/Hexi), vehicles on Yuhang Avenue can head north into the Yuhang Avenue North Tunnel, continue straight through the mainline to the Xiaoxing Elevated Road, and quickly transfer to Chengxi Main Road or the inner ring expressway for access to Xinjiekou and the Hexi area.

Given the concentrated traffic flow at the Yuhang Avenue North Tunnel entrances and exits, along with limited space at the mainline interchange ramps, drivers are advised to slow down in advance and follow road markings and traffic signs when changing lanes to enter or exit the tunnel mainline.

Vehicles traveling from Provincial Highway 126 southbound to north toward the Hexi area should take the Ring Expressway to Jiangshan Avenue in advance, or proceed via Yuhang Avenue to Fengtai South Road, then transfer via Gui'er Road to Aoti Street. Conversely, when entering Yuhang Avenue from the Hexi area, drivers should transition from Aoti Street via Gui'er Road to Fengtai South Road. Please note that the section from Hexi Street to the Xiaoxing Elevated Road currently does not allow direct entry into Yuhang Avenue, so please plan your routes accordingly.

The 463-meter-long Youjia'ao Tunnel serves as the core node connecting Ruanda Avenue to Fengxin Road. The project employed the cut-and-cover method, advancing section by section from Fengxin Road and achieving precise closure with adjacent construction segments. Multiple trades worked in parallel with staggered shifts to accelerate progress while ensuring safety and quality.

Travel tips:

Plan your navigation route in advance. The complex zoning of the main roads, auxiliary roads, and tunnel pedestrian/non-motorized vehicle passages means it's advisable to familiarize yourself with entrances, exits, and traffic rules through navigation apps before traveling to avoid wrong turns.

Expect increased traffic volume during the initial opening period. Nearby nodes such as Ruanda Avenue and Fengxin Road will see significantly more vehicles, so consider traveling during off-peak hours and allow extra travel time.

Pay attention to traffic signs and avoid sudden lane changes. With multiple forks at the tunnel and entrances/exits, drivers should observe directional signs early and select lanes in advance based on their destination. Abrupt lane changes inside the tunnel are prohibited.

Separate motorized and non-motorized traffic. Motor vehicles must not enter non-motorized vehicle or pedestrian passageways to prevent accidents.

Be aware of ongoing finishing work. After the road opens, landscaping restoration above the tunnel and improvements to under-bridge parks will continue. When passing through construction areas, please watch for barriers and warning signs, and slow down accordingly.
