On July 2nd, TCL Zhonghuan released a series of announcements, one of which stated that the company's board of directors had reviewed and approved a proposal for the capacity upgrade and technical transformation of its BC cell and module production bases.
The announcements disclosed that this capacity upgrade project involves a total investment of 2.6 billion yuan. It is scheduled to commence simultaneously in July 2026, with full production capacity expected to be achieved by the end of the first quarter of 2027.
This includes a 20GW cell technology upgrade project with an investment of 1.4 billion yuan. It is planned to start in July 2026, with production gradually coming online by the end of the third quarter of 2026. The details are as follows:
(1) Quzhou 6GW High-Efficiency Crystalline Silicon Cell Upgrade Project
The company plans to convert its existing Quzhou 6GW TOPCon cell production capacity into 6GW BC cell capacity. The project site is located at No. 20 Fangzhou Road, Qujiang District, Quzhou City, Zhejiang Province. The implementing entity is the company's controlling subsidiary, Yidao New Energy Technology Co., Ltd.
(2) Xinzhou 14GW High-Efficiency Crystalline Silicon Cell Upgrade Project
The company plans to convert its existing Xinzhou 14GW TOPCon cell production capacity into 14GW BC cell capacity. The project site is located at No. 93 Jiuyuan East Street, Xinfu District, Xinzhou City, Shanxi Province, within the Shanxi Construction Investment Xinzhou Photovoltaic Industrial Park. The implementing entity is the company's controlling subsidiary, Yidao New Energy Technology (Xinzhou) Co., Ltd.
The 25GW high-efficiency crystalline silicon module upgrade project involves an investment of 1.2 billion yuan. It is also planned to start in July 2026, with production gradually coming online by the end of the third quarter of 2026. The details are as follows:
(1) Quzhou 3GW High-Efficiency Crystalline Silicon Module Upgrade Project
The company plans to convert its existing Quzhou 3GW TOPCon module production capacity into 3GW BC module capacity. The project site is located at No. 20 Fangzhou Road, Qujiang District, Quzhou City, Zhejiang Province. The implementing entity is the company's controlling subsidiary, Yidao New Energy Technology Co., Ltd.
(2) Yixing 4GW High-Efficiency Crystalline Silicon Module Upgrade Project
The company plans to convert its existing Yixing 4GW TOPCon module production capacity into 4GW BC module capacity. The project site is located at No. 28 Tengfei Road, Qiting Street, Yixing City, Wuxi, Jiangsu Province. The implementing entity is the company's controlling subsidiary, Huansheng New Energy (Jiangsu) Co., Ltd.
(3) Tianjin 9GW High-Efficiency Crystalline Silicon Module Upgrade Project
The company plans to convert its existing Tianjin 9GW TOPCon module production capacity into 9GW BC module capacity. The project site is located at No. 750 Shenzhou Avenue, South District of Future Science and Technology City, Binhai High-tech Zone, Tianjin. The implementing entity is the company's controlling subsidiary, Huansheng New Energy (Tianjin) Co., Ltd.
(4) Jingshan 8GW High-Efficiency Crystalline Silicon Module Upgrade Project
The company plans to convert its existing Jingshan 8GW TOPCon module production capacity into 8GW BC module capacity. The project site is located at No. 8 Panyan, Yongxing Street, Jingshan City, Jingmen City, Hubei Province. The implementing entity is the company's controlling subsidiary, Yidao New Energy Technology (Jingshan) Co., Ltd.
(5) Zhangzhou 1GW High-Efficiency Crystalline Silicon Module Upgrade Project
The company plans to convert its existing Zhangzhou 1GW TOPCon module production capacity into 1GW BC module capacity. The project site is located at No. 6 Xingcai Third Road, Dongshan County, Zhangzhou City, Fujian Province. The implementing entity is the company's controlling subsidiary, Yidao New Energy Technology (Zhangzhou) Co., Ltd.
TCL Zhonghuan stated that upgrading its existing production lines to high-efficiency BC lines will help enrich its portfolio of high-end products. Upon completion of the transformation by the end of Q1 2027, the company's entire cell capacity will be upgraded to the BC technology route, and approximately 50% of its module capacity will be upgraded to the BC route.
The company's BC products are characterized by high conversion efficiency, good performance in low-light conditions and resistance to hot spots, while also offering higher aesthetic value, making them suitable for high-value-added markets. Furthermore, the company possesses a substantial reserve of BC-related patents and technology, along with the process and production capacity foundation acquired through Yidao. TCL Zhonghuan will leverage its advantages across the supply chain, R&D, production, and customer resources. By employing a differentiated BC technology route and process, the company aims to introduce products with superior cost and performance advantages, thereby enhancing its overall competitiveness and influence in the BC field.
