Treasuries Rise After Trump Says No Iran Strike Before Midterms

U.S. Treasury futures climbed after President Donald Trump said the United States would not attack Iran before the November 3 midterm elections.
Crude oil futures retreated sharply from near their intraday highs, providing support for Treasuries.
The 2-year Treasury yield was still up about 2 basis points on the day, but had pulled back from its session high following Trump's remarks; gains accelerated at the long end, with the 30-year yield down about 4 basis points on the day.
Both the 2s10s and 5s30s spreads flattened by about 4 basis points.
WTI crude oil futures were still up about 3% on the day, but were noticeably below their intraday high.
