American food conglomerate JM Smucker reported its fiscal 2026 fourth-quarter results on Tuesday, with all key metrics surpassing market expectations, leading to a 3.5% rise in its share price.

The financial report revealed that for the quarter ending April 30, JM Smucker posted adjusted earnings per share of $2.77, exceeding the FactSet consensus analyst estimate of $2.60. Quarterly revenue reached $2.27 billion, also topping market expectations of $2.26 billion. On a GAAP basis, earnings per share exceeded $3.60.

For the full fiscal year, JM Smucker reported total revenue of $9.1 billion for FY2026, representing a 4% year-over-year increase. Adjusted earnings per share for the year were $9.15. The company's cash flow from operations reached $1.5 billion, a significant improvement from $1.2 billion in the prior year.

JM Smucker's Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer, Mark Smucker, stated that the strong fourth-quarter performance validates the effectiveness of the company's focused strategy and portfolio optimization efforts. He noted the company achieved positive growth in net sales and earnings within a complex external environment and is entering fiscal 2027 with strong momentum.

The earnings report indicated a 6% increase in fourth-quarter net sales, primarily driven by pricing actions in coffee and sweet baked goods. Growth in sales volume for Uncrustables sandwiches partially offset volume declines in coffee and sweet baked goods. Improvements in gross margin also contributed to operating income growth.

Looking ahead to fiscal 2027, JM Smucker anticipates net sales to decline by 3% to 4%. However, adjusted earnings per share are projected to be in the range of $9.75 to $10.25, representing growth of 7% to 12% year-over-year. The company expects free cash flow of approximately $1.0 billion and capital expenditures of about $325 million.

JM Smucker indicated it will continue to navigate challenges from a dynamic external environment, including tariffs, regulatory changes, cost inflation, and shifting consumer behavior. Mark Smucker emphasized that the company's strategy is working, and the strong foundation built provides confidence in driving long-term growth and creating value for shareholders.

JM Smucker owns a portfolio of well-known brands such as Smucker's jams, Jif peanut butter, Folgers coffee, and Milk-Bone pet food, with products spanning categories including coffee, baked goods, peanut butter, jams, and pet food.
