China's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs has recently issued the 15th Five-Year Plan for the Development of the National Agricultural Product Origin Market System. The plan prioritizes enhancing the connection between agricultural production and demand, as well as improving the modern circulation system for agricultural products. It aims to promote the integration of online and offline channels, match production areas with sales regions, and foster stronger ties between agriculture and commerce.

The initiative focuses on upgrading infrastructure at origin markets, optimizing marketing services, and strengthening monitoring and early-warning capabilities. Additionally, it seeks to cultivate and expand the role of market participants to support the high-quality development of the agricultural product origin market system.

According to the plan, by 2030, China will have established 50 origin market clusters capable of driving the development of advantageous industries at regional and even national levels. The country will also nurture 1,500 origin cold-chain distribution centers equipped with storage, preservation, primary processing, and cold-chain logistics capabilities. Furthermore, 500 premium agricultural brands backed by high standards and strong certification systems will be developed, marking the initial completion of a modern agricultural product origin market system.

Looking ahead to 2035, the plan envisions significant progress in building this modern market system, achieving efficient alignment between agricultural production and demand. This will play a more prominent role in ensuring stable and secure food supply, enhancing agricultural quality and efficiency, and boosting farmers' incomes, thereby providing strong support for the modernization of agriculture and rural areas.
