On August 23, two slope collapses occurred in Fengshan Town, Fengqing County, Lincang City, Yunnan Province, leaving four people missing.
In response, the Ministry of Natural Resources activated a Level IV geological disaster defense response for Yunnan at 2:00 PM on August 23 and dispatched a working group to the site to guide rescue and relief operations.
The Ministry has instructed the Yunnan Provincial Department of Natural Resources to immediately send an expert task force to the scene to assist local authorities with personnel search and rescue efforts, as well as to provide technical support during emergency operations. Local departments have also been urged to conduct thorough geological disaster inspections, monitoring, early warning, and preventive measures in similar high-risk areas.
Additionally, the China Geological Survey and the Ministry's Geological Disaster Technical Guidance Center have been tasked with strengthening expert coordination, organizational support, and consultation and assessment efforts to fully assist in providing technical support at the site.
