QAF Limited announced on May, 20 2026 that its wholly owned subsidiary Gardenia Foods (S) Pte Ltd will relocate its bakery production from Singapore to Johor Bahru, Malaysia as part of a manufacturing footprint optimisation strategy.
Production at Gardenia’s Pandan Loop facility in Singapore will cease on Jun, 30 2026, resulting in the retrenchment of 141 employees. The company said it had informed the Food, Drinks and Allied Workers Union in advance and will provide affected staff with notice, fair compensation, and job-matching support.
Following the move, Singapore will remain Gardenia’s central hub for brand management, innovation, product development, regulatory compliance, distribution and other headquarters functions, retaining about 250 employees.
Gardenia was founded in 1978 and became part of QAF in 1985. The group now operates bakeries across markets including Malaysia, the Philippines and Australia.
