Ping An Insurance (Group) Company of China, Ltd.'s stock surged 4.91% during intraday trading on Wednesday, following the release of its first-quarter 2026 financial results which showed robust growth in operating profit and key business segments.
The company reported operating profit attributable to shareholders of RMB 40.78 billion for the first quarter, representing a 7.6% increase compared to the same period last year. This positive performance was driven by multiple business lines showing growth momentum, with the life and health insurance segment's operating profit reaching RMB 29.696 billion, up 6.4% year-on-year.
Notably, Ping An's new business value saw significant growth of 20.8% year-on-year to RMB 15.574 billion. The property and casualty insurance business also expanded with original insurance premium income increasing 6.8% to RMB 90.951 billion, while the banking segment reported revenue growth of 4.7% and net profit growth of 3.0%.
