Where to begin

On August 8, China's 18th National Fitness Day, CCTV's News Broadcast aired a special report on improving public fitness services, showcasing the Qinhuangdao Ocean Blue Coast sailing training base and pickleball center. That same day, the coastal resort set a new record with over 10,000 visitors in a single day. Spanning 2.8 kilometers of pristine coastline, this destination is redefining fitness through diverse sports experiences.

Why focus on this location?

The report highlighted how regions are innovating to create diverse fitness scenarios for all ages. Recognized as one of the first high-quality outdoor sports destinations by the General Administration of Sport, Ocean Blue Coast integrates coastal resources with public fitness systems to build a "non-stop sports energy field."

International events driving mass participation

As the northern headquarters of the Chinese Yachting Association, Ocean Blue Coast hosted the 2026 ILCA Asia Cup sailing regatta in June, attracting over 200 athletes from 16 countries. During the event, the ILCA Asia Qinhuangdao Sailing Training Center was inaugurated, upgrading the site from a competition venue to an international sailing platform for training, technical exchange, event incubation, and public promotion.

Opening professional venues to the public

The resort features a nearly 10,000-square-meter pickleball international center with 25 courts. It has hosted high-level events like the Hebei Provincial Pickleball Open while remaining open to the public, allowing tourists to try this trendy sport by the sea.

Deep collaboration with national sports IPs

In July, Guizhou's Rongjiang County and Qinhuangdao's Beidaihe New District signed a strategic partnership, bringing the popular "Village Super League" (Cun Chao) brand to the coast for the first time. Ocean Blue Coast will serve as the main venue, hosting teams and activities, fostering cross-regional cultural, sports, and tourism integration.

Integrating sports and education for youth development

Ocean Blue Coast emphasizes sports camp education, running sailing programs and summer camps with the BSC Beijing Sailing Center. In July, the first beach-based "Tough Mudder" kids obstacle challenge was held, with difficulty levels for children aged 4 to 14. From professional training to fun experiences, sports become a key part of youth development.

Expanding fitness options for all ages

During the May Day holiday, Ocean Blue Coast partnered with Decathlon to create a "Sports Life Festival," featuring a 10,000-square-meter professional beach arena. In May, the 2026 Chinese Beach Frisbee Open attracted 29 teams and nearly 500 players. Through the SSC sports community, the resort integrates fitness into daily life for residents and visitors. From sailing and pickleball to beach soccer, volleyball, paddleboarding, and kayaking, a wide range of activities meet the needs of all age groups, making sports a lifestyle.

Looking ahead

The CCTV feature spotlights this coastal sports hub, and the record 10,000 daily visitors affirm the appeal of its fitness model. Aligned with the goals of the National Fitness Plan (2026-2030), Ocean Blue Coast will continue leveraging its events and services to write a new chapter for public fitness by the sea.
