Key provincial projects maintained continuous construction throughout the May Day holiday, with numerous workers remaining at their posts to drive progress and enhance efficiency. On May 3rd, the construction site of the upper reservoir at the Chengde Luanping Pumped Storage Power Station was bustling with activity, marked by the roar of machinery and constant movement of vehicles. The total volume of dam filling has now surpassed 1 million cubic meters, reaching a height of 92 meters, with a stable daily filling rate exceeding 18,000 cubic meters.

Shao Jiayong, Deputy Director of the Production Management Department at the Luanping Pumped Storage Power Station EPC Project Department, stated that during the dam filling process, an intelligent compaction system and on-site monitoring system have been introduced. These systems allow for real-time detection and monitoring of the vibrating roller's operational path, speed, and number of passes, ensuring that compaction density fully meets specifications and design requirements.

Construction of the underground main powerhouse also reached a critical milestone. The installation of two main bridge cranes, each with a rated lifting capacity of 250 tons, has been completed and has now entered the wiring and commissioning phase. This marks the official commencement of the electromechanical installation works, laying the foundation for subsequent unit hoisting.

Liu Bin, Project Manager of the Luanping Pumped Storage Power Station EPC Project Department, noted that over 600 construction workers remained on site during the May Day holiday, taking advantage of the prime construction period before the flood season. The entire project is scheduled to see its first unit begin power generation by the end of December 2029, with full operational capacity expected by the end of September 2030. Upon completion, the station will serve as a "giant power bank" for the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei grid.

Worker Zhao Zhengfeng expressed that while he felt some regret at not being able to return home for the holiday, he was happy and proud to see the steady progress of the power station project and the successful installation of the two bridge cranes.

Similarly, the State Grid Xinyuan Hebei Yixian Pumped Storage Power Station was a hive of activity during the break. Just before the holiday, the station's Unit 2 officially began power generation, and in recent days, Unit 3 has entered its peak installation period.

Guo Zhitang, Deputy Director of the Equipment Department at the State Grid Xinyuan Hebei Yixian Pumped Storage Power Station, explained that a single unit typically generates approximately 300,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity. With Unit 2 now operational, the combined output of the two units can reach about 600,000 kilowatt-hours, equivalent to the daily electricity consumption of 20,000 average households. During the holiday, work was simultaneously underway across more than 30 work fronts, including the general assembly of Unit 3 and sectional debugging of the governor system.

At the construction site, all 330 workers were on duty, with supervisors and safety officers maintaining full oversight and logistics support ensuring smooth project operation. Duty officer Feng Yanhui emphasized that conducting additional equipment inspections and identifying potential hazards contributes to a more reliable power supply for the public. Another duty officer, Sun Feng, remarked that seeing the units successfully begin power generation made all their hard work feel worthwhile.

It is reported that after the completion of Units 3 and 4 at the Yixian Pumped Storage Power Station, the facility will save approximately 126,000 tons of coal annually and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 213,000 tons.
