Keppel Ltd. (BN4) said on Aug, 11 2026 that its Connectivity Division’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Keppel Kruger Holdings Pte. Ltd., has obtained a Facilities-Based Operator licence from Singapore’s Infocomm Media Development Authority. The licence permits the company to own, operate and maintain telecommunications infrastructure in Singapore for the planned Kruger Cable System.

Kruger is designed to link Singapore, Malaysia, Bangladesh, India and Oman, with additional branches across South Asia. The cable will land at Tuas on Singapore’s western coast, using the same beach manhole previously deployed for Keppel’s Bifrost Cable System.

Industry forecasts cited by Keppel indicate that international bandwidth demand from cloud, AI and content providers could increase more than fivefold between 2025 and 2035, with South Asia and the Middle East among the fastest-growing regions.

Keppel completed a 1.2-kilometre cable stub for Kruger in 2024 to accelerate the project, and related shore-end works are under way. The group plans to attract third-party capital through its private infrastructure fund, with a final investment decision targeted by the end of 2026.

The company said the development is not expected to have any material impact on its net tangible assets per share or earnings per share for the current financial year.
