PCCW Shares Dip Nearly 3% as Interim Loss Narrows 38%; Company Accelerates AI Integration

PCCW (00008) shares fell nearly 3% in Hong Kong trading, last down 2.55% at HK$5.725, with turnover of HK$39.017 million.

The company recently reported its interim results for the six months ended June 30, 2026, posting consolidated revenue of HK$20.204 billion, up 7% year-on-year. The loss attributable to equity holders narrowed 38% to HK$276 million, with a basic loss per share of 3.57 HK cents.

PCCW stated it will accelerate the application of artificial intelligence across its network and operational processes, integrating AI into both personal and enterprise customer services. This move aims to enhance operational efficiency and service quality while opening up new growth opportunities.

For the six-month period, international telecommunications service revenue rose 2% to HK$3.899 billion, driven by increased data and international voice wholesale revenue, as well as rising demand for the company's Console Connect software-defined cloud interconnection platform. Notably, demand from Chinese mainland OTT users grew healthily, with revenue from this segment increasing by over 50%.
