E Fund Asia Semiconductor ETF (03486) rose more than 8% to a new high. The ETF tracks the Solactive Asia Semiconductor Select Index, which includes 30 leading Asian semiconductor companies such as SK Hynix, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (SMIC), and Hua Hong Semiconductor. The index covers key segments of the industry including chip design, manufacturing, packaging and testing, and equipment and materials. As of the latest update, the ETF was up 8.16%, trading at HK$20.54, with a turnover of HK$24.9239 million. The broader semiconductor sector remains strong globally, with many major chipmakers reporting better-than-expected earnings. Overnight, the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index climbed more than 4%. In the South Korean market, semiconductor leaders also surged, with Samsung Electronics briefly soaring 16% and SK Hynix gaining over 10%, both reaching all-time highs. Additionally, semiconductor stocks in both the Hong Kong and A-share markets showed strong gains today. Goldman Sachs has expressed a positive outlook on the semiconductor industry in a recent report, anticipating that surging AI-related demand will drive further growth in the sector. Institutional investors are also shifting capital from software and internet platforms toward the semiconductor hardware supply chain.
