During the May Day holiday period from May 1 to May 5, Ruili Port experienced a significant surge in cross-border passenger flow. According to statistics from the Ruili Immigration Inspection Station, the port recorded over 70,900 entries and exits by travelers, along with more than 5,500 cross-border vehicles. Across all entry-exit channels under the jurisdiction of the Ruili inspection station, total passenger volume reached approximately 85,900 individuals, with over 8,600 vehicles processed. The average daily cross-border traffic during the holiday period increased by more than 16% compared to non-holiday periods.
Multiple factors contributed to the peak passenger flow. The implementation of facilitation measures such as online declaration of entry cards for foreigners and a credit-based management system for freight vehicles has continuously improved clearance efficiency. Additionally, cultural tourism activities in Ruili City during the holiday, including successful events like the Manau Song Festival and the "Beautiful New Dehong·Yunnan Peak Stage" performances, further stimulated cross-border exchanges.
Data shows that Myanmar nationals accounted for over 94% of travelers passing through Ruili Port. Travel to China for sightseeing, shopping, and event participation has become a essential need for Myanmar travelers, forming a diversified pattern combining family visits, cross-border tourism, and business exchanges.
To manage the holiday peak, Ruili Inspection Station implemented dynamic staffing arrangements with additional positions during peak hours, adjusted deployment during normal periods, and emergency coverage. The station flexibly opened tidal flow channels, special lanes, and emergency assistance passages, while establishing dedicated channels for Chinese citizens to ensure their waiting time for immigration clearance does not exceed 30 minutes.
Special assistance was provided for elderly passengers, pregnant women, and persons with disabilities. Dedicated "Belt and Road" channels were set up to facilitate smooth passage for personnel and materials related to Chinese investment projects in Myanmar.
Officials from Ruili Inspection Station stated they will continue to optimize clearance services, ensure port security and efficiency, and provide strong support for deepening China-Myanmar friendship and promoting border trade prosperity. As economic cooperation between China and Myanmar continues to deepen, Ruili Port serves as a frontline gateway for China's opening to Myanmar, becoming an important bridge for strengthening China-Myanmar relations.
