Uber has agreed to purchase the German food delivery company Delivery Hero SE, valuing the target firm at $14.8 billion.
In an announcement made on Thursday, Uber confirmed it has proposed acquiring a significant portion of Delivery Hero's global operations across 50 markets for 41.50 euros ($47.60) per share. This announcement confirms earlier media reports.
As part of the transaction, Uber will also fully acquire Delivery Hero's major shareholder, the Amsterdam-listed Prosus NV.
The deal further includes a separate arrangement where investment firm SSW Partners will invest approximately $1.6 billion to acquire businesses in 14 markets. SSW Partners is tasked with finding buyers for these assets, which include operational subsidiaries in Austria, Norway, Spain, and Sweden.
