According to sources and data from Italy's latest budget plan, Greece will no longer be the most indebted country in the eurozone by the end of this year, with its public debt level expected to fall below that of Italy. Two senior Greek officials told Reuters that Greece's public debt-to-GDP ratio is projected to decrease to approximately 137% this year, down from 145% in 2025. In contrast, based on the multi-year budget plan (DFP) published by the Italian Treasury on Thursday, Italy's public debt-to-GDP ratio is forecast to rise from 137.1% in 2025 to 138.6% in 2026. "Starting this year, Greece will no longer hold the position of the eurozone's most indebted nation," one of the Greek officials stated.
