Jul 27

On July 27, CSOP SK Hynix Daily (2x) Leveraged Product fell 8.42% in regular trading, trading at HK$48.76, with turnover of HK$222 million. The decline comes amid sustained regulatory pressure from Korean authorities on single-stock leveraged ETF products.

On the news front, Korean retail investors have been rushing to buy Samsung and SK Hynix single-stock leveraged ETFs ahead of imminent regulatory tightening. On July 24, the Korea Exchange activated the SIDECAR mechanism to temporarily suspend programmatic selling on KOSPI, during which the 2x leveraged Hynix product dropped over 11%. The Korean Financial Services Commission has been accelerating enhanced supervision measures including raising minimum margin requirements to 30 million won, banning new single-stock leveraged product listings, and limiting transactions to 20 shares per order. These measures were fast-tracked following President Lee Jae-myung's directive on July 21 for swift regulatory action, adding continued deleveraging pressure to the product.
