E-Commerce Sector Shows Steady Innovation and Growth in July

Official data from the Ministry of Commerce indicates that China's e-commerce sector achieved stable and innovative development during the first seven months of the year. The integration of online and offline channels has unlocked new consumer potential, with nationwide online retail sales of goods and services rising 4.8% year-on-year from January to July. This segment contributed over half of the overall growth in social retail sales of goods and services during the period.

Online platforms have broadened the scope of product consumption while enhancing the convenience of service purchases. According to monitoring by the Ministry of Commerce across key e-commerce platforms, sales in online travel and online lifestyle services surged by 24.9% and 16.3%, respectively, during the same timeframe.

E-commerce continues to drive industrial transformation and upgrades. Business big data tracking reveals that online retail sales of agricultural products and rural commodities grew by 12.8% and 5% year-on-year, respectively, in the first seven months. Local governments are fostering "e-commerce + industrial belt" initiatives, organizing platforms to connect with specialized manufacturing clusters. As a result, transaction volumes in industrial goods and chemical products e-commerce expanded by 1.4% and 1.2%, respectively, during this period.

Furthermore, online shopping and digital content consumption have fueled rapid growth in related service industries, underscoring the sector's pivotal role in economic momentum.
