Lithia Motors (LAD) shares surged 6.58% in pre-market trading on Wednesday, as investors reacted positively to the company's second-quarter financial results that surpassed Wall Street expectations and a significant dividend increase.

The automotive retailer reported adjusted earnings per share of $10.03, handily beating the analyst consensus estimate of $8.78. Quarterly revenue reached $9.79 billion, exceeding the $9.63 billion forecast. The company also announced a 23% increase in its quarterly dividend to $0.70 per share, signaling confidence in its financial health and commitment to returning capital to shareholders.

Operational strength was broad-based across the business, with used retail gross profit per unit jumping 20% sequentially, financing operations achieving record income of $37 million, and aftersales gross profit climbing 3.1%.
