CanSino Biologics Inc (HKEX: 06185) announced that its New Drug Application (NDA) for the adsorbed acellular pertussis (five-component) diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis combined vaccine for individuals aged 6 and older (referred to as Td5cp for adolescents and adults) has been accepted by the National Medical Products Administration of the People's Republic of China (NMPA).
The Td5cp vaccine, designed for adolescents and adults, serves as a booster shot for diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis. While many developed countries have already incorporated such vaccines into their routine immunization schedules, there is currently no approved booster vaccine for adolescents and adults in the domestic market. Therefore, if the product successfully reaches the market, it will fill a significant gap in the domestic market.
The company's previously approved vaccine for infants, the adsorbed acellular pertussis (three-component) diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis combined vaccine for children under 2 years old (DT3cP), received NDA approval in April 2026. The Td5cp vaccine for adolescents and adults includes two additional pertussis antigen components compared to the infant DT3cP vaccine, making it a five-component pertussis vaccine. Each pertussis antigen can be purified individually and formulated at precise ratios, ensuring batch-to-batch consistency and more stable product quality.
The Td5cp vaccine for adolescents and adults has been granted priority review status by the Center for Drug Evaluation of the NMPA.
